    Saudi Mining Company to plant 20 million trees by 2040

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Saudi Arabian Mining Company MA’ADEN and the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, enhancing joint cooperation to plant trees and develop natural vegetation in Saudi Arabia. A ceremony to mark the signing was held on the sidelines of the International Exhibition and Forum on Afforestation Technologies held in Riyadh 29-31 May 2022. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadley, and MA’ADEN CEO Robert Wilt, along with Khalid Al-Abdulqadir, CEO of the National Center for Vegetation Development, and Hamad AlRashidi, MA’ADEN Vice President-Corporate Industrial Security & HSE.

    Saudi Mining Company to plant 20 million trees by 2040As part of the memorandum, the two parties will discuss ways to collaborate and integrate efforts in order to achieve their common goals. This includes planting 20 million trees by 2040 and providing them with renewable water sources. This project team will prepare the scope of work, examine targeted afforestation sites and investigate renewable water sources. MA’ADEN’s contributions to sustainability and environmental protection are extended through this collaboration. As part of the Wadi Al Mara initiative, over the last five years the company has planted more than 3 million trees. MA’ADEN is achieving its ambitious growth targets, strengthening its position as a global mining leader while contributing to Saudi Vision 2030 by addressing several ESG issues.
